I find the cabinets and drawer from this set in the film The Dish to be so gorgeous. Also gorgeous in The Dish: numerous shots of the tremendous satellite dish, the beauty of which doesn't quite translate into stills as it's all about this giant thing in motion-- swiveling, tilting, rotating, lifting. I could gaze at it for hours.

Watching season three of Big Love, I'm enthralled, yet I keep asking Kenneth, "Is it good? Is it good tv?" He responds that it's good "in a Dynasty sort of way." Yes. These are big, robust episodes, filled with developments. I long for the first season, when nothing happened, when my longing for something to happen was part of the show's complicated pull, integral to its significance.
And yet. Images like this. Call to me. With a pull all their own.
