definitely feels more shrine-y than floral, although perhaps that's due to detail shots rather than the full effect. not that these are anything less than the FULL EFFECT. !!! many keeses swak swak
I considered the tree as floral arrangement mostly in connection with its purchase. I was freaked out about spending money on the thing, but when I conceived of it as one very large long-lasting stem, I could deal. Its importance as shrine emerged from decorating and experiencing it-- these things were and are sad, pleasurable, rewarding, mysterious. In tending to the tree, I'm tending to many other things as well. I hope to make some ornaments to commemorate the xmases K and I have spent together. One in honor of the year (2008) we watched "Last Tango in Paris" over waffles on xmas (I'm thinking a stick of butter ornament); one to capture this year (we're thinking Wallander might play a role or, perhaps, a crow from Winterreise-- see 12/23 post). xoxo
