I'm in a hotel lobby and only have a second but I can't tell you how seminal this piece was and is to me (i.e., at the tip of the iceberg, how after this photo I had expected her in person to be enormous, steinian in frame and figure - she is, in fact, fully attenuated. Did I tell you about how she opened her reading by invoking her mother's Latin pin? She was wearing it). I hope at some point I can relay these messages to you, that at some point I can be as wrong as I possibly truly am without recompense or shame or disturbance of spirit.

PS - I'm convinced that AC was icy to me when I asked her to sign a book at a staged reading of her opera "Decreation" at the New College in San Francisco. Maybe it was just San Francisco. Didn't diminish my fandom of or my interest in her or her work.
