These bakers' best intentions-- vast swirling black holes of becoming and yearning and repetition and commerce-- make such heart-breaking cakes. The tiers and the casings of queer, fantastic promises which cannot ever ever ever be kept.
Kirsten on visiting the space station: "I would go if I didn't have to get there." Offstage, in the way back, the bakers' unknown response: "I am wanting to be getting there, but I never never never will arrive. Perhaps not even anywhere."
