A) "Pulling Stills" is the name of my next project.
B) I play the video on my computer and hit "Print Screen" when I want to capture. In Photoshop, I paste (by hitting CTRL-V) the captured image and then crop. There are, I'm sure, better methods for the pulling of stills. But most of my recent pulls come from video streamed using the Dance In Video database, so this method seems best to me. Also, maybe it is illegal. Not sure. I'm certainly not making any money from m'blog, so I don't worry too too much.
1) "Ebsen and his sisters learned to dance at the dance studio his father operated in Orlando."
2) Hawkins' family was extraordinarily poor. Between that and his missing teeth, I think of him as a rocky mountain hillbilly aesthete genius type of kind.
Buddy Ebsen was a great song and dance man. He was originally cast as the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz but had to bow out after a makeup accident, true story.

ps - perhaps i pause the video first and then hit "Print Screen." That seems more sound. And more like what I'd do.
PPS - the non-dance images are almost all photographs I take of our television then crop. It takes effing forever, but I like the results.
In the top pic he kinda looks like Buddy Ebsen.
